Ctrl+space => set mark
Ctrl+W => cut
Ctrl+Y => paste
supposed you wrote in terminal:
"Im happy using Ubuntu"
and you want to copy the word "using".
Move the cursor to the letter "u" of "using", press ctrl+space. (set mark)
Move the cursor to the "g" of "using", press Ctrl+W (Cut starting from lastmark)
Move the cursor to where you want to paste, press Ctrl+Y (paste)

First day @Linux
Well the first website that i have found quite useful was http://www.tuxfiles.org/
Twas very Smooth and easy....
Well there were many things to learn from my switch from Windows to Linux...
The one thing i had a problem was when i started installing softwares on my linux...
was that the linux which i installed mandriva 2009 had not installed many necessary libraries which i had to separately download again which were in the installer cd but it dint do so when i ran it without configuring so detaily....may be!!!
But the other command which is quite useful to install new softwares which are sometimes simple BUT important part like c++,gcc,make,etc...
urpmi c++
This should install c++ and do so respectively to install others!!
The setup files usually end with .sh or .bin (this is as far as i learnt)
For executing .sh files which are setups..
sh givenname.sh
This should install the software
The other thing i had a problem today was about installing vlc player on linux....
I took some hours to install this coz i was doing a long procedure that it is to install the required libraries myself ...thts the way it was given to set it up in the VLC website though
but this simple command did it all in the end!!!
sudo apt-get install vlc
Guys if u can give me any suggestions and teach me things.... Pls do comment !!!
